LAUNCH: Carbon Monoxide Alarms: Tenants Safe & Secure in their Homes; with Alok Sharma MP, Minister for Housing & Planning keynote address

7th November 2017
4.15-6pm

The Minister for Housing & Planning, Alok Sharma MP, will be addressing an APPCOG audience on 7 November in Parliament.

This report has never been of greater significance, both in light of the Government’s White Paper and following the recent tragic Grenfell Tower fire, which has highlighted the need for a fundamental review of health and safety regulations to protect tenants in England. The launch of this report coincides with the Government’s announcement that these regulations will be reviewed by the DCLG this October.

The All-Party Parliamentary Carbon Monoxide Group’s (APPCOG) latest report Carbon monoxide (CO) alarms: tenants safe and secure in their homes looks at the issues around improving current regulations and advocating that landlords must  provide a CO alarm in properties containing any fuel burning appliance, as opposed to just solid fuel appliances.

Speakers include:

  • Alok Sharma MP,  Minister of State for Housing and Planning (keynote)
  • Barry Sheerman MP, Co-chair, All-Party Parliamentary Carbon Monoxide Group
  • Eddie Hughes MP, Parliamentary Member of APPCOG
  • Richard Lambert, Chief Executive Officer, National Landlords Association
  • Ed Walker,Consultant, Emergency Medicine
  • Abbie Sampson, Energy UK
  • Chris Bielby, SGN
