Work and Pensions Select Committee publishes Assistive Technology report

Work and Pensions Select Committee publishes Assistive Technology report

14th May 2018

The Work and Pensions Select Committee recently published its assistive technology report - with the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Assistive Technology cited seven times throughout the report, and several of its recommendations reflected in those of the committee

The APPGAT used the findings from its parliamentary events and written input from associate members to draw up an evidence submission for the committee.

The submission focused on Access to Work, Jobcentre Plus, Personal Independence Payments, and the Industrial Strategy. The APPGAT was among several groups who made suggestions to develop the Access to Work workforce so that needs assessors, in particular, understand the very latest technology for workplace adjustments. The report took up the recommendation to improve training for assessors. The APPGAT also recommended to the committee that the Industrial Strategy be used to fund innovation in assistive technology and, at the APPG's subsequent panel event on the topic, we heard several recommendations for how this may be done.

To read the full breakdown of the topics covered by the report and the submission made by our APPG, please read the full article on the website here.
