Policy Connect and the APPG for Sustainable Resources are convening a forward-looking policy discussion exploring how the Circular Economy becomes a reality in the UK. The event will examine the role of government and industry in embedding circular principles across the economy and how with government leadership, circular living can become the norm.

The long-term economic and environmental benefits of achieving greater circularity in the economy are substantial, and as ecological pressures continue to rise, the need for a circular economy is ever more prevalent. Therefore, how can government, industry and academia play an active role in realising the benefits associated with a more circular and resource-efficient economic model?

Chaired by Tristan Osborne MP, this event will bring together stakeholders from government, industry, and research to consider:

  • What policy interventions are needed to transform the circular economy into a reality?
  • How can government and industry collaborate to foster the innovation needed for a circular economy?
  • What are the biggest implementation barriers facing government and industry and how can these be addressed?
  • How can consumers and businesses be incentivised to participate more actively in a circular economy?
  • How can government create long-term certainty so that businesses will be incentivised to alter their business models to achieve better circularity?
  • What metrics should the government prioritise when measuring progress to a circular economy?
