Transport is the UK’s largest carbon emitting sector. It is responsible for around 31% of the UK’s total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, producing 141 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) in 2017.2 Passenger cars, heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and light duty vehicles are responsible for 86% of the sector’s emissions, with the remainder from aviation and shipping.

This roundtable explores different ways to decarbonise transport, including electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cells.
