The ATech Policy Lab is hosting a panel discussion at Bett UK Conference to explore how assistive and accessible technology (ATech) can play a vital role in supporting SEND learners as they transition from education into employment. Panellists, including experts from the ATech, education, and employment sectors, local authorities, and individuals with lived experience, will share insights into how technology can remove barriers, enhance skills, and open new pathways to work.
The session will introduce the Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) and demonstrate how ATech can be embedded into supported employment programmes to improve outcomes for disabled people. Attendees will also learn about the design and ambitions of a proposed pilot that integrates free ATech into Supported Employment services, aiming to foster inclusion and equal opportunities in the workplace. Participants will leave with practical knowledge of how technology can transform preparation for adulthood and strengthen employability for SEND learners.
The session will feature panel contributions from:
- Laura Davis (CEO of the British Association of Supported Employment).
- Fil McIntyre (Natspec TechAbility Manager and Assistive Technology Lead).
- Elizabeth Wilkins (Assistant Principle, The Oaks Specialist College).
- Harry Georgiou (CEO of 6% And Rising).
