Concerns are growing around the ethical use of patient data by the NHS and sharing of data with other organisations. New medical treatments and medicines may result from “mining” NHS data, yet personal medical information is highly sensitive and personal so individuals may not want this to be shared or visible given the questions around effective anonymisation of data.
