This event, convened by the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Skills, Careers and Employment (APGSCE) in partnership with the Career Development Policy Group and Policy Connect, will bring together parliamentarians, policymakers, employers and career development professionals to examine progress and priorities in careers policy under the Labour government.

With over a year in office, this discussion will explore how current commitments and reforms, such as the post-16 education and skills white paper and merger of JobCentres and the National Careers Service, can be leveraged to strengthen careers support for young people and adults alike.

Contributors from government, the career development profession and industry will reflect on progress to date, discuss emerging challenges and opportunities, and share recommendations for future policy development.

Speakers include:

  • Darren Paffey MP (Education Select Committtee, MP for Southampton Itchen)
  • Lauren Edwards MP (APGSCE Co-chair, MP for Rochester and Strood)
  • Baroness Sue Garden of Frognal (APGSCE Officer, House of Lords)
  • Dr Chris Percy, Strategy & Policy Consultant, Careers Policy Development Group
  • Student Representative, West London School – Ruislip High
