The Future for Creative Higher Education in 2020

With 2020 set to be a momentous year for the UK creative sector, APDIG and the Council for Higher Education in Art and Design (CHEAD) are delighted to host a parliamentary reception to explore current and future issues in the creative education environment. This event will discuss the impact of the General Election on art, media and design teaching, as well as the wider sustainability of the sector.

Held in the Houses of Parliament, the event will current issues for the sector, raising awareness amongst senior policy makers about the likely impact of Government policy on the sustainability of the education and skills ecosystem for creative education.

Through a series of provocations from a variety of perspectives, industry figures and academics will demonstrate the interconnectivity of schools and teacher education, further and higher education frameworks, research environments, and developments within the industrial strategy and creative industries strategy and the impact on current practice, talent pipelines for the creative economy and the vibrancy of Britain’s creative capital.

A panel discussion will share perspectives from university, school and industry figures, as well as from invited Government figures. The finalised line-up will be confirmed in January 2020. 

The discussion will be followed by an informal networking and drinks reception.
