This joint PRASEG and APPG Climate Change event presents an opportunity to discuss the politics and practicalities of what a Green New Deal would mean for the UK economy, with particular focus on its implications for the energy sector.

Please email pamela.rudolph@praseg.org.uk to register.

Drawing inspiration from former U.S. President, Franklin D. Roosevelt’s famous policy programme, the Green New Deal promises to re-focus public and private resources on the sustainable transformation of the economy and deliver jobs and prosperity as part of an ambitious programme to tackle environmental crises.

Far from a new concept, the Green New Deal has recently catapulted into mainstream political discourse on the back of the electoral success of Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez in the U.S. Congress and the increasingly vociferous activism from groups such as the Extinction Rebellion.

Drawing on insights from both sides of the Atlantic, the event will bring politicians together with thought-leaders from across the energy and environmental sectors and facilitate a debate around whether wholesale economic transformation is the only solution to the increasing threat of climate breakdown.
