Baroness Garden of Frognal is hosting an All-Party Parliamentary Skills, Careers and Employment roundtable event on the future of Local Skills Improvement Plans.

The Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIP) are Government’s response to calls for better alignment of skills training with what business needs. OFSTED has developed a new inspection framework to ensure Colleges are delivering for their local LSIP and Labour recently announced they will keep LSIPs, albeit with some adjustments, if they win the next election. So it looks like the concept of the LSIP is going to be around for a while to come.

In this Parliamentary-led debate, the APGSCE will discuss the lessons from the LSIP pilots (trailblazers) and what improvements are needed – with the views of businesses, colleges, Ofsted, and Local Authorities.

Speakers:

  • Rizwana Parveen, Deputy Director, Department for Education
  • Lucy Druesne, Local Skills Improvement Plan Manager, Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce
  • Ann Monaghan, OFSTED – His Majesty’s Inspector, Further Education and Skills Policy Advisor
  • Jonathan Shaw, Strategic Director, Kent Further Education
