Migration, Skills and Labour Market Integration

This roundtable will examine how Skills England’s sector job plans are seeking to reduce reliance on migration in priority sectors, including the effectiveness of pathways developed to fill roles previously reliant on migrant workers.

The discussion will also consider the impact of higher English language requirements for skills routes introduced in January 2026, and how international students moving into skilled employment are navigating the new rules.

The session will bring together employers, migration experts, Skills England and organisations working across the domestic skills pipeline to discuss the practical implications of these changes and the wider direction of skills and migration policy.
