Policy Connect and the Skills Commission are hosting a parliamentary event to launch a new report – Higher technical qualifications: How to liberate employers and skill workers for the future.

After an extensive inquiry to gather evidence, the Skills Commission has produced a report which spells out five key policy recommendations to improve the relevance and uptake of Level 4 and 5 Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs).

The report outlines the case for HTQs being among the most efficient and accessible ways of increasing the supply of key skills required in this changing economy. The recommendations aim to help HTQs reach their full potential for learners and employers.

The report launch will be chaired by Sir John Hayes MP.

The launch will bring together key stakeholders across technical education, including employers, colleges, and universities. It will be a valuable opportunity to engage the sector and drive forward an agenda to deliver on the promise of HTQs.

Other speakers and panellists include:

  • Peter Wilson, Senior Researcher, Policy Connect
  • Baz Ramaiah, Head of Policy, Centre for Education & Youth
  • Lucy McLeod, Deputy CEO, EKG Colleges Group
  • Graham Hasting-Evans, Chief Executive, NOCN Group
  • Joe Fitzsimons, Senior Manager – Policy and Insights, ACCA
