The Rt Hon Sir John Hayes is hosting an All-Party Parliamentary Skills, Careers and Employment roundtable event on the skills workforce.

Colleges are struggling to recruit specialist staff which is holding back many young people from developing great careers and stopping businesses from growing. We will discuss what can be done to bring a new generation of teachers into FE. This will include existing initiatives, partnerships with businesses and the government’s own campaign.

Speakers:

  • Toby Perkins MP, Shadow Minister for Further Education & Skills
  • Dr Jen Nelles and Ben Verinder, co-authors of the report “Skills, Innovation, and Productivity”, published at The Productivity Institute
  • Simon Cook, principal of Midkent College
  • Beatrice Barleon, Head of Policy & Public Affairs, EngineeringUK
