Focusing on recovering from a period of unparalleled global economic uncertainty, the Chancellor has set out a budget that seeks to point towards opportunities in the future. In particular, the budget seeks to create high-wage and high-skilled jobs.

Through this, it touches on a number of key issues for the APGSCE and Skills and Higher Education Commissions. These include: advice, information and guidance provision for careers; development of higher technical qualification provision, and associated routes into these qualifications; apprenticeships; and research and development. All of these are linked within the spending review by the goal of ‘levelling up’ the UK.

The event will be chaired by Lord Philip Norton of Louth (Con), an officer of the group and chair of the Higher Education Commission. We will have a panel of speakers which will include:
•    Jane Hickie, CEO of the Association of Education and Learning Providers
•    Elena Wilson, Policy Manager at the Edge Foundation
•    Beatrice Barleon, Head of Public Affairs and Policy at EngineeringUK
•    Bhavina Bharkhada, Head of Policy and Campaigns at Make UK
•    And others tbc.

After we have heard comments from our speakers, we will have a question and answer and discussion section where all attendees can contribute.
