In light of the upcoming CCC report  the APPCCG is hosting an event to identify the major barriers to achieving more ambitious decarbonisation targets

In October 2018 the Government asked the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) to review the UK’s long range carbon targets in light of a special report from the IPCC on the impact of 1.5°C of global warming. It is expected that the CCC will recommend stepping up our current target (80% reduction against 1990 levels by 2050) when it reports on the 2nd May 2019.

This event will be opportunity to learn about the CCCs recommendations and will bring together representatives from major sectors of the UK economy to discuss the challenges the UK faces in achieving more ambitious decarbonisation targets.

Speakers:

  • Caroline Lucas MP (Chair)
  • Ed Miliband MP
  • Mike Thompson, Head of Carbon Budgets at the Committee on Climate Change
  • Anna Ziou, Chamber of Shipping
  • Carl Arntzen, Bosch UK
  • Toddington Harper, Gridserve
  • Jo Charles, Willmott Dixon
