Chris White MP, vice-chair of Policy Connect and MP for Warwick & Leamington, is calling for government to turn its attention to ensuring the new political landscape is one in which our nation can flourish.

“The EU referendum produced a close, but decisive result, and while I campaigned to remain in the European Union, I respect the decision that has been made. This decision by the British people will create a modern renaissance for our Parliament. Westminster is set to become centre stage as we develop a new legislative and regulatory environment.

Parliament must now turn its attention to ensuring the new political landscape is one in which our nation can flourish. We must explore all of the opportunities in front of us to secure our future prosperity.

If we are to rise to the challenge set by the new Prime Minister to “forge a positive new role for ourselves in the world and make Britain a country that works not for a privileged few, but for every one of us”, Parliament and Government need to harness the talents of business, academia and civil society to make the right decisions based on clear, evidence-based policy.

At Policy Connect we are bringing policy makers together with people and organisations who want to contribute and help shape this future. Our Parliamentary Groups, Commissions and Forums are busier than I have ever seen in my time in the Commons. We are organising a series of events following the outcome of the referendum and I would urge you to join us and get involved; your views would be very much welcome.”
