As one of our participants remarked today, right now, energy is at the centre of everything. The current cost of living crisis is exacerbated by high energy bills, tied to international affairs and geopolitics.

The Government’s proposed Energy Bill, announced in the recent Queen’s Speech, is therefore an extremely timely and important piece of legislation.

Today, Carbon Connect members met in the Houses of Parliament for a roundtable discussion with Bim Afolami MP on this topic.

The conversation covered hopes and requests for the Bill and the most important areas for immediate action, as identified by the expert participants including representatives from business, industry, academia and Parliament.

Energy efficiency was a key topic of conversation. As one participant remarked, we should not be wasting energy when it is so expensive. The need for practical examples of how to deliver this at scale was raised.
