Last week in Parliament, the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Assistive and Accessible Technology launched its latest report, ‘ATech Skills for Adult Social Care: Building the Care Workforce to Put People in Control of Their Lives’!

With representatives from local government, sector leaders, practitioners, and people with lived experience in attendance, the launch event explored how digital and assistive technology can empower the social care workforce to deliver more confident, person-centred care.

Discussion centred on the recommendations outlined in ‘ATech Skills for Adult Social Care’ to accelerate the adoption of digital practices in adult social care through reform of the education and skills system.

Participants also reflected on lessons from the Kent and Medway Digital Skills and Innovation in Health and Care (DSIHC) project that formed the central case study of the report.

The report launch was chaired by Robert McLaren (Director of Policy, Policy Connect) and featured insightful panel contributions from:

  • Clive Gilbert (Policy Connect).
  • Cllr Diane Morton (Kent County Council).
  • Cllr Teresa Murray (Medway Council).
  • Lindsey Biggs (East Kent Colleges Group).
  • Dudley Sawyerr (Care Vision AI).
  • Freya Wood and Lacey Hymers (Learners, East Kent Colleges Group).

Thanks to our launch sponsor Kyndi, as well as our inquiry sponsors KFE (Kent Further Education) – East Kent Colleges Group, MidKent College, and North Kent College – Medway Council, and Kent County Council.
