Next Skills Commission report to launch: Going Places
The Skills Commission is gearing up for the next report to launch in 2016: Going Places
Going Places is the final report that comes from the 10 month inquiry known as Leading innovation in further education and skills (or LIFES).
LIFES is a long-running project, funded by the Further Education Trust for Leadership (also known as FETL), for which a grant was given in the summer of 2015 and research began in the following autumn. The inquiry spanned the length and breadth of the country, with evidence sessions taking place in Westminster, Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff and evidence taken from Ireland. The Skills Commission felt it was important to make the research as wide-reaching and varied as possible through these area sessions, meaning that evidence-givers could fit in sessions alongside their busy educational lives.
Now the Commission is preparing for the launch on the 8th of December in Parliament. Keynote speeches will include Commission co-chairs Dame Ruth Silver and Barry Sheerman MP, with inquiry chair Neil Bates alongside. We will also enjoy a reception with an opportunity for guests to discuss the report over refreshments.
