The All-Party Parliamentary Health Group hosted a roundtable with the Obesity Health Alliance and Nesta to explore delivery of the Government’s prevention agenda on obesity.

The discussion was chaired by Dr Simon Opher MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Health Group and featured a keynote speech from Dame Angela Eagle MP, Minister of State for Food Security and Rural Affairs. Participants considered how the Government’s 10-Year Health Plan can drive obesity prevention, improve population health and support the shift from “sickness to prevention”.

With the Government signalling a “moonshot to end the obesity epidemic”, the roundtable focused on obesity-prevention policies set out in the 10-year plan and explored what further action could be taken to reduce obesity prevalence and support healthier communities.

The discussion brought together parliamentarians, policymakers, academics and sector leaders to share insights on prevention-focused approaches and the role of cross-sector collaboration in delivering meaningful change.
