The APMG will be holding a fringe event on the Future of British Manufacturing at Labour Party Conference in Brighton this year. The event will feature a panel Chaired by APMG Co-Chair Barry Sheerman followed by a drinks reception and all manufacturing colleagues and stakeholders are encouraged to attend. 

The panel is:

  • Bill Esterson MP, Shadow Minister (Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy & International Trade)
  • Dai Richards, Director of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, ABB
  • Steve Turner, Assistant General Secretary, Unite
  • Rosa Wilkinson, Director of Communications, High Value Manufacturing Catapult

They will be discussing the future of manufacturing in the age of automation and will cover a range of topical issues such as: increasing UK competitiveness, solving the productivity puzzle, increasing investment, Made Smarter, Labour’s manufacturing policy plan, onshoring, addressing the skills gap and shaping the workforce of the future.
