Policy Connect and the All-Party Parliamentary Health Group (APHG) are hosting a parliamentary evidence session on AI and Healthcare.
The session will bring together academics, healthcare professionals, policymakers, industry representatives, and other stakeholders to explore the challenges surrounding AI innovation and adoption in healthcare.
The discussion forms part of a wider research project delivered in partnership with the Policy Unit at University College London (UCL). This initial session will explore topics including the data governance, sharing, and interoperability needed to build and validate AI models using NHS data, alongside the regulation and safe deployment of AI at scale. Panellists will also consider liability, human oversight, equity and trust, drawing on recommendations from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency’s (MHRA) National Commission on the Regulation of AI in Healthcare.
Chaired by Dr Simon Opher MP, confirmed panellists include:
- Professor Laurence Lovat, Professor of Medicine (Gastroenterology) and Biophotonics, UCL Department of Targeted Intervention (Faculty of Medical Sciences), and Lead of Air Safety Project.
- Professor Derek Hill, Professor of Digital Health, UCL Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering.
- MiRa Jacobs, Head of Digital Health, MHRA.
- Dr Rosalind Adam, Academic GP; Senior Clinical Lecturer in Primary Care, University of Aberdeen.
Further panellists will be announced shortly.
