Manufacturing a sustainable future: How public procurement could help foster a circular economy

3.00pm-5.00pm

This event, in partnership with the Policy Connect sustainability team, will consider how remanufacturing - the rebuilding of a product to specifications of the original manufactured product using a combination of reused, repaired and new parts - could be encouraged through a radical new approach to public procurement.

Following on from Policy Connect's previous work on remanufacturing, the APMG is partnering with the APSRG to hold a roundtable Chaired by Vicky Ford MP in which the potential for remanufactuirng from across sectors is to be discussed with members of Parliament and civil servants.

From paints to tyres and from desks to printer cartridges, the opportunities for remanufacturing of goods is considerable. While there is currently not a clear enough market for remanufactured goods, if government sought to procure more remanufactured goods to support a burgoning market and create a demand, could such a start then be built upon to create a market.
