Senior figures from across the manufacturing sectors joined MPs and Peers for the APMG and Make UK’s summer reception on Thursday 4th July, 2019. Held on the House of Commons Terrace overlooking the Thames, guests were joined by a series of high-profile speakers, including Richard Harrington MP, former Minister of State for Business and Industry and Make UK Award Winning Apprentices Heather Johnson of BAE Systems and Tobias Cowan of HepcoMotion.

Hosted by APMG Vice-Chair and Shadow Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Jonathan Reynolds MP, the event brought manufacturing colleagues together to network and discuss the current state of British manufacturing with policy makers from across the political spectrum. In his keynote, Richard Harrington spoke frankly about the importance of securing a constructive relationship with the European Union. 

Make UK’s Award Winning Apprentices, Heather and Tobias both gave excellent speeches, showcasing their impressive personal acheivements and highlighting just how rewarding and varied a career in manufacturing can be. 

Finally, Stephen Phipson CBE, CEO of Make UK, summarised the event and stressed the vital importance of the government  a Brexit deal that protects manufacturing and allows it to continue to be the foundation on which our economy is built.
