Report Launch - Building Efficiency: Reducing energy demand in the commercial sector
14:15 - 16:00, Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House, Parliament
This panel debate event will formally launch the Westminster Sustainable Businss Forum and Carbon Connect's report from their inquiry into increasing take up of energy efficiency retrofit in the UK's commercial sector co-chaired by Lord Whitty and Oliver Colvile MP.
This report comes as the Government begins to turn its attention to the issue of boosting energy efficiency take up across the economy. Despite a clear business case for implementing energy efficiency retrofit existing for much of the commercial sector, this inquiry finds that there are still significant barriers to wide-scale take up across the sector as a whole.
The report provides a series of recommendations to Government and industry as to how best to facilitate and encourage take up of energy efficiency measures to enable the sector to help the UK in meeting its carbon emissions targets and remain competitive in a world of increasing energy prices and increasing uncertainty due to the impacts of climate change.
