Pain Summit 2011: Initial report
England's first Pain Summit took place on Tuesday 22 November 2011 at Central Hall, Westminster.
A joint venture by the Chronic Pain Policy Coalition, the British Pain Society, the Faculty of Pain Medicine, and the Royal College of General Practitioners, the event brought together parliamentarians, healthcare professionals, commissioners and patient groups in order to discuss the issue of chronic pain and to examine current pain services within the United Kingdom.
This initial report, published soon after the event, reflected upon the themes and findings of the summit, in particular the various breakout workshops and round tables that were held throughout the day.
The report helped inform the inquiry process that followed over the following eight months, which resulted in Putting Pain on the Agenda, the final report of the Pain Summit.
