Hydrogen – maximising the UK’s supply chain and technology potential

Policy Connect are hosting a parliamentary discussion on low-carbon hydrogen use, sponsored by the High-Value Manufacturing Catapult, and brought together in partnership with the Hydrogen Innovation Initiative and the trade body Hydrogen UK.

The use of low–carbon hydrogen, produced either by using renewable energy or from fossil fuels with Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS), has a crucial role to play in achieving the UK’s 2050 net zero target, with the UK Hydrogen Strategy targeting 10 GW of low-carbon hydrogen production by 2030. 

Ambitious targets for the use of hydrogen as part of the UK’s future energy mix are intended to incentivise innovative domestic tech companies to build critical technologies and ensure the UK can develop supply chains that compete in the export market.  

Chaired by Mark Pawsey MP, this parliamentary roundtable will bring together industrial and political leaders to discuss the opportunities and risks around UK hydrogen supply chain content.
