The government’s commitment to delivering 700,000 additional urgent NHS dental appointments presents a critical opportunity for local areas and MPs to play a direct role in ensuring these services reach those in need. But how can Integrated Care Boards best utilise resources, and what models have successfully improved access?

The All-Party Parliamentary Health Group and the APPG for Dentistry will host a joint APPG event chaired by Dr Simon Opher MP and Yasmin Qureshi MP, which will bring together policymakers, healthcare leaders, and sector experts and will explore how ICBs can deliver these much-needed appointments effectively. With input from frontline dental professionals and strategic healthcare leaders, we will discuss the commissioning challenges, service delivery models, and alternative approaches that could shape the future of urgent dental care.

This event will provide MPs and local decision-makers with the insights and tools needed to actively support ICBs in delivering on the government’s commitment. It will also explore whether alternative models could further enhance access to urgent dental care.

Confirmed Speakers Include:

  • Dr Ed Garratt, CEO of Suffolk and North East Essex ICB
  • Ian Holmes, Director of Strategy and Partnerships at West Yorkshire ICB
  • Mark Green, BDA General Dental Practice Committee executive & urgent care dentist, Yorkshire
  • Ben Squires, Director of Primary Care at Greater Manchester ICB

Further speakers to be announced shortly.
