Policy Connect is collaborating with Manchester Metropolitan University to host a roundtable on the ‘ImprovE-ACT’ research project.

Manchester Metropolitan University, alongside Policy Connect and black men with lived experience of being detained under the Mental Health Act, are carrying out the ‘ImprovE-ACT’ project to improve experiences and encourage pledged government reform, funded by the National Institute for Health Research.

Last year the ‘ImprovE-ACT’ project began with a parliamentary symposium chaired by Lord Bradley and a keynote from the then Mental Health Minister Rt Hon Gillian Keegan MP. As the research has now finished, this roundtable will disseminate and explore its findings and policy recommendations.

The roundtable will be chaired by Jasmin Adebisi, Health Policy Manager, and feature contributions from:

  • Professor Joy Duxbury – Professor of Mental Health, Manchester Metropolitan University
  • Nisa Chisipochinyi – Head of Equity and Racial Justice, Rethink Mental Illness
  • Peter Alleyne – Director of Equity, Inclusion and Involvement, Rethink Mental Illness
