The Government’s 10-Year Health Plan calls for a decisive shift from analogue systems to digital systems to make the NHS ‘fit for the future’, aligning with the health system’s recent roll out of various programmes focusing on the use of AI and digital technologies.
After months of ping-ponging between the Lords and the Commons, the Data (Use and Access) Act will allow further use of data and analytics in public services by guaranteeing improved privacy protections for everyone.
Although the use of emerging technologies and data can open a new, improved era of healthcare service delivery for the NHS, there are various questions about privacy, ethics, and actual implementation of these changes.
On 3 September, the All-Party Parliamentary Health Group will host the first event in a new programme of work that will examine how this digital transformation can improve healthcare service delivery and examine critical questions about privacy, ethics, and implementation.
Chaired by Dr Simon Opher MP, the session will feature contributions from healthcare professionals, patient safety groups, tech providers, and more.
