APMG Energy Intensive Industries Roundtable 2: energy pricing and competition

14:00 - 16:00

The All Party Parliamentary Manufacturing Group are delighted to be hosting the second in a four part roundtable series on the Energy Intensive Industries and their transition to net zero, in collaboration with the Energy Intensive Users Group (EIUG).

This second session will take place via zoom on the 20th October 2021, 14:00-16:00 via zoom and will be chaired by Mark Pawsey MP, co-chair of the APMG and member of the BEIS Select Committee.

The purpose of this session is explore how energy intensive industries will remain competitive and discuss the need to get energy pricing right. We hope this will be an opportunity for parliamentarians to learn more about the industry and how it will shape their constituencies.

The UK energy intensive industries (EII) are vital to the UK’s future economic success. These industries are both strategically important, in that they produce many essential products, as well as being major employers. EIIs are set to become even more important as the UK economy decarbonises – for example, expanding renewable generation capacity requires significant amounts of steel and concrete. Retaining and growing EIIs will therefore be crucial as the UK seeks to achieve its net zero emissions target.

A more detailed briefing will be shared shortly before the event and a summary of the first roundtable with Lord Grimstone can be found on our website here
