Thames Tideway Tunnel briefing

10.00 - 11.30

The WSBF will be visiting the Thames Tideway Tunnel information centre in London for a presentation on how the ambitious project is developing.

The Thames Tideway Tunnel is a major construction project underneath London, the project started in 2016  and will cost £4.2bn. The aim of the TTT is to dig a super sewer deep underneath London in order to relieve London’s creaking sewer system which was built in Victorian times. The project is set to come online in 2023 and will dramatically improve the water quality of the River Thames by stopping sewage outflows during heavy rain.

On this visit, the WSBF will be hoping to answer the following questions:

  • Is the TTT project keeping to cost and time budgets?
  • What benefits have there been from the TTT so far? (water quality, sewer capacity, job creation)
  • Have there been any drawbacks?
  • What has the public reaction to the TTT so far?

If you would like to register your interest in attending, please contact WSBF Manager jim.clark [at] policyconnect.org.uk (subject: TTT%20visit) (Jim Clark).
