Unlocking Healthcare Delivery: Navigating Data and Innovation in the NHS

Policy Connect in partnership with the Health Innovation Network are hosting an upcoming parliamentary roundtable on navigating Data and Innovation in the NHS in the next coming years.

Chaired by Lord Bethell, the group will hear invaluable insights provided by a diverse panel of NHS Health Innovation Network Chief Officers, representing various localities across the network. Each officer brings forth a unique perspective shaped by the distinct populations and infrastructures within their respective regions.

Baroness Gillian Merron, Minister within the Department for Health and Social Care, will give a keynote speech.

By fostering an environment of open dialogue, the event seeks to uncover the key factors and strategies that have catalysed innovation in the past five years, identify areas where progress has been impeded, and distil the collective wisdom garnered from these experiences into actionable recommendations fit for the start of a new parliamentary term for parliamentarians and policymakers.

Central to discussion will be the exploration of several thematic pillars including but not limited to:

1. Innovating Safely: Ensuring that advancements in healthcare technology and processes prioritise patient safety and adhere to regulatory standards.

2. AI and Digital Network Leadership: Harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence and digital networks to optimise healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes.

3. Regional Rural Innovation: Spotlighting innovative initiatives tailored to address the unique healthcare needs of rural communities, such as the intersection of healthcare innovation with industries like fishing to combat prevalent health issues like heart disease.

4. Translating Research into Innovation: Examining the mechanisms through which research findings are translated into tangible innovations, with a focus on the role of institutions like the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) in fostering innovation ecosystems.

5. Data Innovation: Exploring the transformative potential of data-driven approaches in healthcare, while ensuring the secure and ethical handling of sensitive patient information.
