Policy Connect and the All-Party Parliamentary Manufacturing Group recently partnered with Make UK to host a Winter Manufacturing Reception in Parliament. 

New and returning parliamentarians were joined by manufacturing businesses from across the UK to mark the beginning of a new Parliament and celebrate the sectors importance to the UK economy. 

With the Government recently launching its Industrial Strategy Advisory Council and Green Paper, this was an excellent opportunity to gather sector leaders, government policymakers, and parliamentarians to discuss how the Government can foster collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Lord Karan Bilimoria chaired an afternoon session of networking and speeches that celebrated the resilience of the UK’s manufacturing sector and its potential to create secure employment, drive innovation, and deliver economic growth in a stable, collaborative partnership with government.

There was also emphasis on the importance of skills, with speakers noting the importance of skilling and upskilling the workforce to secure the employment, investment, and growth opportunities arising from emerging green and high-tech industries.
