The Policy Connect sustainability team is organising a series of Parliamentary events to examine the impacts Brexit will have on the environment, energy and climate change, resources and built environment sector. With a range of expert speakers and attendees, these Parliamentary events will aim to inform the policy gap which the Government, UK industry and third sector have been exposed to following the result of the EU referendum on 23 June. 

'The Brexit Series' will involve the production of four Parliamentary events between November 2016 and February 2017, and will be completed with a policy briefing disseminating the oral evidence collected to key policy makers in Government in March 2017. 

This seminar explored the impacts Brexit may have on waste, resources and circular economy policy.

• Which existing body of EU waste regulations should be "grandfathered" by the UK following Brexit?
• Which aspects of the EU Circular Economy Package proposals should be taken on board, scrapped and/or improved by the UK?
• How may the UK secondary materials market change following Brexit and how should policy makers and industry respond to this change? 
• How can legal certainties around key definitions be secured?
• How will the UK ensure it is at the table of European-wide conversations about best-practice and -techniques on waste policy developments and circular economy thinking?
